I have noticed in my life that whether someone is a parent, student, part of the workforce, emotionally content, or struggling in some areas, there is often a connecting quality between us – A lack of feeling self-worth, self-love, and unconditional support. While we all have different goals (be it aiming to eat healthier, wanting to lose weight, wanting to get stronger, or just needing some sort of change to move ourselves forward again), we will all struggle to achieve and sustain them in a healthy way without focusing on achieving them from the inside out! You can’t hate yourself skinny. You can’t maintain a healthy diet if you hate your body.
My approach to coaching is very focused on personal development, a surplus of of self-care (including preventative methods that people don’t always consider to be self-care until they try it!), learning to make time for yourself, and tailoring the program to YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS. I do this through support groups, one-on-one coaching, and workout and nutrition programs created by celebrated trainers and dietitian nutritionists (with or without exercise!). If you start working with me, you’ve got my attention and support, whether you need form tips or help with time management.
To give you an idea of why my coaching approach focuses so much on self-care, let me tell you a bit about my story.
I have suffered from anxiety and depression for my entire adult life. I spent years hating and hiding my body, neglecting myself emotionally (whether the excuse was “I can’t afford to eat healthy” or “I don’t have time for myself – my family needs to come first.”) While I was functional enough most of the time, I ended up dropping out of university and falling deeper into depression (postpartum hormones did not help!). I never yo-yo dieted because I would rather binge eat a bag of chips, but I did flip back and forth between exercising and attempting to be healthy because I thought you had to be internally motivated naturally or pay a ton of money and couldn’t keep up.
It took me a really long time to discover what it takes to get yourself out of the hole. I have been there. It is my mission to make sure that if someone truly wants to make a change for themselves, they are able to do it. I only work with those who are really ready to take the leap – whether they have hit a plateau or have neglected themselves for a long time.
Personally, I have lost 22 inches as of May 2018 with this method, but I have gained a support system, friends, emotional stability, skills to battle the days that used to be impossible, and energy to parent in the way that I always dreamed (and make time for myself to boot). I still have a ways to go to reach my goals as they are always evolving, and there is always more to learn.
If any of this speaks to you, please reach out to me. Let’s get to know each other and take the leap together!
